SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE (CMC)
|
It
is the chemical combination of dissolving pulp, monochlorasetic
acid and caustic soda. Purification operation with Alcohol,
CMC can be used in Food or Pharmaceutical Industry depends
on its active content. The general formula is
|
CMC
is an anionic and water-soluble polymer and it is used
where hydrophilic protective colloids need to be used.
Its most important features which increase its commercial
value are diminution of water fluidity, maintenance of
solids in suspension in aqueous medium, stabilization
of emulsions, absorption of humidity, formation of films
resistant to fats, grease and organic solvents, physiological
innocuousness, a certain degree of adhesiveness, and good
microbiological stability. |
CMC can be produced either powder or granular according
to customer needs.
|
Usually specifications for CMC are indicating purity (active
content, CMC%), Moisture %, DS(Degree of Substitution),
Viscosity, Bulk density, and pH. |
